Depressive Witches, a Black Metal band, was formed in 2018 in Picardy, France by brothers Sick Bab on vocals and guitar, and Torvuus on guitars and drums. Bound not only by blood but also a shared passion for black and extreme metal, creating music together was a natural progression for them.
In 2021, they released their debut album titled "Bad Flask," which heavily embraced the traditional black metal influences of the duo. The album's lyrical themes revolved around witchcraft, curses, and epic battles. The recording was done by Jonas Sanders & Ivan Houben, with mixing and mastering carried out by Jonas Sanders at Blackout Studio in Brussels.
In 2022, the band presented their second album, "Distant Kingdoms," once again recorded, mixed, and mastered by Jonas Sanders. In contrast to their first album, this one paid homage to their rock influences, featuring more solos and clean vocals. A unique offering in the black metal scene, "Distant Kingdoms" combined black metal, punk, heavy metal, and infused joyful & darkened riffs, akin to black'n'roll, but with a more festive and epic atmosphere. Lyrically, the album explored adventures, magic battles/war, and high fantasy, drawing inspiration from RPG video games with medieval themes, nature, and black magic.
In 2023, Depressive Witches embarked on a new tour named the "Dark Spells Tour," crossing six countries all over Europe, performing in clubs and festivals.
