AEGRUS is a Finnish Black Metal band that was formed in 2005 in Kouvola, Finland, by Darkseer Inculta and Lux Tenebris. Initially, the band's vision revolved around satanic devotion and mockery against Christianity. However, over the years, their vision evolved significantly, focusing on their members' passionate interests in death, darkness, Luciferian worldview, and transcendental knowledge.
During the early years of their existence, AEGRUS operated in the deep underground, releasing a series of fierce demos and an EP. As their reputation grew, they decided to prepare their debut full-length album. The renowned cult black metal label, Drakkar Productions, took interest in AEGRUS and embraced the band under its wings. Subsequently, AEGRUS released their debut full-length album titled "Devotion For The Devil" through Drakkar Productions in 2015, which received high praise from both critics and listeners alike. The album was acclaimed for its harsh and powerful Finnish black metal sound, featuring great riffs and majestic melodies.
Following their successful debut, AEGRUS released a strong EP titled "Conjuring the Old Echoes" in 2016, further solidifying their reputation as a formidable live band with their intense energy on stage. In 2017, they released their second full-length album, "Thy Numinous Darkness," through the Finnish underground label Saturnal Records, which garnered positive reviews and maintained the band's high standards.
In 2019, AEGRUS released their third full-length album, "In Manus Satanas," through Saturnal Records, marking the first time the present line-up, including Praestigiator (guitar) and Serpentifer (drums), participated in the recording process. The album received the most positive reviews to date, leaving fans eager for more of their music.
In 2021, AEGRUS signed with the legendary Osmose Productions, and in 2022, they released their latest EP, "The Carnal Temples." The band is now gearing up to release their fourth full-length album, titled "Invoking The Abysmal Night," planned for later in 2023. This upcoming album promises to showcase their most versatile musical style yet, delving into themes of death, devil worship, darkness, and nightside.
